Northern Lights
Northern Lights
Fiber. Color. Craft.
Where process becomes artistry and color becomes memory.
Inspired by the dancing glow of the aurora borealis, Northern Lights captures the magic of winter nights. Layers of emerald green, deep violet, and electric blue flow together like light across snow. Some colors can’t be bottled… but I tried.
Fiber.
Soft, high-quality merino wool that’s smooth, breathable, and radiant. Each skein is dyed on 100% extra-fine super wash merino (19.5 microns); one of the softest grades available. Luxuriously smooth and gentle against the skin, this is yarn made to be worn, loved, and remembered.
Color.
A dance of emerald green, violet, electric blue, layered to capture the shifting glow of the Northern Lights. The violet is applied with a special technique that creates a thin, airy veil of color, leaving the base tone subtly visible beneath. The result is a luminous, “airbrushed” effect that feels alive with movement.
Craft.
Designed for makers drawn to wonder and light, Northern Lights glows in projects that shimmer with movement and depth. Perfect for airy shawls, cozy socks, or statement pieces that capture the night sky, it adds a touch of mystery and magic to every stitch. The colors shift and flow — green, violet, and blue — wrapping your work in the quiet beauty of the aurora’s dance.
Washing:
Always hand wash in cool water with a gentle wool wash or mild soap (like a drop of Dawn). Even though our yarns are super wash, they still appreciate a little tenderness. Cool water and calm hands go a long way. Better safe than sorry.
Rinsing:
Gently squeeze out the excess water; never wring or twist. Treat your wool like you would a delicate scarf: light touch, no rough handling.
Towel Roll:
Lay your piece flat on a clean towel, roll it up, and press gently to pull out extra moisture. If it’s still damp, repeat with a fresh towel.
Drying:
Lay flat on a dry surface to air dry, reshaping as needed. Avoid hanging as it can stretch your stitches. Let nature do the work here; patience keeps the shape perfect.
Color Care Tip:
I heat-set every skein and let it cool slowly in the dye bath, but even so, hot water or scented detergents can nudge the dye loose. Stick to mild soap and cool water for the happiest colors.
Rule of thumb: If the water feels cozy to your hands, it’s too warm for wool. Cool, calm, and gentle wins every time.
Each skein is dyed in small batches, slight variations make every skein unique.
Alternate skeins in multi-skein projects for best color blend.
